Chinar

Jahaan tak meri yadaasht jati hai,
sirf uski sarsarahat, uska istehkaam jhalak ata hai.

Yahaan iss khirdki par baithe usko panapte dekha hai.
Mere saat uske umr ko kamil hote dekha hai.
Apne bhanwain ko dararo ke bojh tale dabte mehsoos kiya hai.
Itna jhuke hai ki meri aankhon ko ab dekhne ki aadat nahi.
Fir bhi koshish karta hun dhaga pironey ki,
pashmina ke akhri sire tak, akhri sarhad tak pahunchne ki.

Ussi khirdki par nazar tikaye rakhta hun,
intezaar karta hun pat jhad ka, aur fir sard ke mausam ka.
Jab uske shaak par barf bhi sukoon pata hai.
Warna to inn vadiyon mein khamoshi bhi dari-dari si rehti hai.
Band darwazon ke bavjood, sehmi-sehmi si rehti hai.

Mein yahi khirdki par umeed tangey rakhta hun,
intezaar karta hun shaam ki roshni ka, aur fir kesar ki mehak ka.
Jab uske chaanv tale mera makhsood bhi aziz ho jata hai.
Warna to inn tang raston par har shaks be tasab rehta hai,
Gul-e-gulzaaron ke bavjood, bebas, bejaan rehta hai.

Jahaan tak meri ahtiyaat jaa pati hai,
sirf uski hasrat, uska zahoor zehen mein ata hai.
Wahaan jhelum ke kinare baithe, uske buniyaad ko dekha hai.
Mere saath usko bhi
muhafiz bante dekha hai.
