SCHUMPETER in Life

The Schumpeterian view-"Creative Destruction" holds an eminent position both in theoretical literature and academic study.Time and time again, we are washed by the waves of this theory in many interpretations. As students of economics, Schumpeter not only is a matter of importance for study, it also holds an eminent bearing on other aspects.
How can one come to terms with this destructive ideology? How can I believe that when things look as bad as they are, there's a signal of new beginning? It's to easy to read and explain in class, that innovation results from disequilibrium, that business cycles are a shift from one equilibrium to another and that there always exists dynamic currents in the economy. Can the same idea be applied elsewhere? Can i have a beginning after a drastic end?
There are many instances which bring everything to a standstill; as if everything's over after this. We may never want to tread on that path again, that path where that horrendous instance occurred, where my soul got pricked by thorns of deceit and pain. "I'll never walk that path, never!" Will a destructed and battered heart take the chance again? How can I console my heart to create a new beginning? A Schumpeterian analysis; will it help?
Detractors may say that it's crap. One can't apply it on personal life. But what if we can, what if we do it unknowingly, what if we strive to walk down that road again, hoping for lampshades to wipe the darkness and a and extra pair of feet to give us company? Destruction; maybe its not in our hands; but it signals a beginning, a better one. There would be no reason for destruction if the ongoing was the best; there exists possibilities for far better journey. And I hope, we hope for a beginning always.

GOD'S own CRIME

Picture this- lush green forests, cool climate, a tranquilizing silence disturbed only by bird chirping, the clouds resting on the shoulders of the mountains, the ocean at the far end where the mountains dive off (pause); and then add some gory scenes-blood baths, chopping and hacking, mutilated bodies and corpses! You can't fit them in a single frame, rite! Well, it does happen for real; and that too in God's own land where he resides and rests. Where his/her devotees are highly learned to commit a folly. But there is vengeance among them which is rooted in politics. So the green cover is rooted in day-light murders, assassination, roberries. other crimes are in sapling phase. This is not what you might be thinking; it's not the quintessential BAD land of U.P-Bihar; it's down there in Kerala, God's abode.
According to reports,http://articles.economictimes.indiatimes.com/2012-06-24/news/32393467_1_crime-rate-crime-prone-state-ncrb Kerala stood highest in crime rate (number of crimes committed per 1000 population) and hence the most crime prone state, surpassing U.P, M.P and even Delhi! Sounds astounding! Now how did it manage to take the top honors in this category too, beating seasoned rivals? Was it the enigma of being numero uno on all parameters- social and anti-social? Or is it something else.
We all talk of creating and maintaining balance in our lives; professional and personal spheres, social and family activities so as to achieve harmony in our lives. So this balancing function applies equally to nature. Nature also has a balancing role to play, so that it is stable and in turn sustain our livelihood on this planet. whether it's the physical or supernatural environment, unchecked aggressive devastation, destruction and distortion sets into motion forces of nature that restore the balance. Now, we all take about the god erasing the evil, subduing it and bringing back harmony on the earth, how nature (god, to be precise) opens his/her software and enters a special command to fix the problem! So, if GOD can enter a positive constraint to minimize the negativity it should also be true for the reverse scenario. And that is GOD's crime- everything needs to be checked bad or good. But you can ask-what's the problem with omnipresent goodness? Why will God check for increasing goodness in society?
We need a strong reason for LAW and ORDER to exist and exercise; a reason to define the limits of the society, a reason to met out punishment and thus we have crime. A crime of God's own doing! People will come with arguments against this malign on God's country, the poster boy of Indian tourism- "the stats are fault, analysis is bad, other states under report crimes, category of crime is not considered", etc. But the question is EDUCATION hasn't wiped out crime from our minds, it exists yet! And, we educated souls shall make God as the scapegoat, what say!

Back to 1972

Well, well! The Meteorological officials confirm a healthy and timely monsoon this year for India (pun unintended). That ought to have some effect on the stocks although the judgement and declaration of the IMD is never above doubt! But, yeah as of now, we'll keep that rosy picture in mind of a timely monsoon which will result in good crop yield.

And as any God-fearing Indian will tell ya, If the Monsoon Gods bless the motherland, everything thereafter will work in timely and orderly manner; starting with the Monsoon Session of the Parliament! But what of now? What gods need to be pleased to ease the sufferings of the cultivators now? Which Offering will ease their pain? As of now, over 330 farmer deaths (suicides) have been confirmed in the Vidharba and Ratnagiri belts. The number is expected to increase further by the day. On the other hand , we have 1,600 crores earmarked for farm development out of which only 0.1% has been spent (forgive any errors in the figures).

That's the sad state of affairs in Maharashtra- we're facing a grave drought crisis here. Any further escalation from here will lead us back to dark Summer of 1972. When the state was reeling under a severe drought which had crippled the farming sector-both in terms of output and employment. 1972 remains a stark reminder of farm crisis in India. And this time around, it maybe repeated; speaking of History repeating Itself!! Irrigation projects were launched without proper planning and future estimation. Projects were sanctioned in those areas which are the political home grounds of the MPs and not in the required districts. We could go on debating on this topic-any political soup is a hot discussion. But that's not the case here. We're facing an acute water shortage in the hinterlands and nepotism is going to result in another unwanted history!

Another 1972:period.

JUST A STATISTIC

Amid all the budget hoopla ah and expectations splashed all over the papers, certain facts seem to have gone unnoticed. The tension buildup to the D-Day (read budget) is a fodder for the media to play with and speculate all sorts of customized budgets that will placate every taxpayer in the economy. And why not, since the government is answerable to us, we'd like a budget in our interests without having the fear of reaching our pockets, without having the worry of reading the fine prints, without having the hassle of searching the best "interest". And no matter how hard the Finance Minister tries, statistics and facts tend to contradict each other!

Statistics; there goes a saying,"there are lies, damn lies ans statistics". It has remained a common fallacy of the government to report misleading figures and numbers with latest addition being the "5 crore poor above poverty line for the period 2004-09". Anyways, we wont get into the intricacies of the tricks, what a common man is interested is with the stat. Stats on my purchasing power, stats on my cost of living, stats on air, rail fares, stats on bank interests, stats on my body flab, etc!! what we forget is that there's an underlying truth or fallacy of a situation.
A similar statistic was that of the death of another IPS officer in the mafia-lands, at the hands of coal mafia. the news generated relatively low "TRPS" and hence was out of print after a few mourning photos and mudslinging action on the pages. It has gone into the archive section of death figures on duty; the associated compensation figure to the family; the rank. What won't be recorded are the stats on the size of the DEVIL, the stat on the tears shed, the stat on the political nexus, the stat on the risk involved on duty, the stat on the negligence of the departments, the stats on the multitude of grieving.

FARCICAL FART

We fart a lot, don't we! No offense, but yeah, it's a fact. Indigestion, Gas, Acidity and a whole of stomach troubles; they're usually to blame. It must have happened to you at some point of time; now don't deny it! There are bad stomach days, when anything that goes in, doesn't come out the way we would like. Even the best of appetiser, the best of chinese, the most deliciously cooked curry, that mouth watering delicacy; nothing can lift your mood (nor that smell!) It happens in the office when there's a meeting after lunch, it happens in the lift the going gets tough, it happens in the class, usually at the front seat, and we at the back face the consequences. The noisy ones are just that- noisy, nothing else. The deadly one is the "silent killer". Comparable to holocaust; it's smell is a torture on the nose even meters away.
But what is even more unbearable is the farce we fart out. In day to day life, in and out, in every space, at every step, in every situation, one can smell it. Deny it vehemently you may, but it's a fact that we can't digest. Farce is what we breathe, either one's own or someone's else. Laugh it loud to cove it up, but the noise can be heard. In this case, the noise level speaks volumes about he farce. Why do we do it? What it is that is so indigestible for our minds? What's that food for thought that doesn't go down the memory pipe? Why do these questions arise? Can't you hear noises around, noises speaking farce, clouding the environment, the space we've to live, the situation we create. A fart somewhere, by someone is polluting the mind, but we won;t stop it, 'cause we can't BURP the truth out!!!
